About the course

This isn't a theory lesson. This is your first real step into performance. In this taster course, you'll explore the character of Mary Magdalene — one of the most emotionally complex figures in scripture — and use her story to unlock something in yourself. A quick note: this course is not about gender. Mary Magdalene is simply our vehicle for exploring something that belongs to every single one of us — expression. Whether you are male or female, young or not so young, this lesson is completely for you. Every human being has the ability to feel and to express emotion. That is all this course asks of you. You'll learn how to read a scene, find the emotion inside it, and deliver it with honesty and intention. You'll practise with a mirror. You'll film yourself. You'll watch yourself grow. I started acting at 54. No training, no agent, no connections — just faith and a burning desire to do what God put in my heart. Before that I beat cancer. I was a cancer winner. And I knew I wasn't done yet. Today I'm a working actor. The photo you see here was taken while I was filming a feature film called Caribbean Summer.  I spent three weeks on location in Belize bringing that role to life.  I've been on screen. I've acted on stage and been sent around the world recording TV commercials.  And now I founded Gospel School for Performing Arts (GSPA) — the only drama school in the UK built specifically for the Gospel and Christian community, because I didn't want anyone else to have to figure this out alone. If I can do it, you can do it. I'll hold your hand every step of the way.
